This jewelry box is made of wood that has a black lacquer finish with gold hand painting and mother of pearl figures. It's very beautiful. All of the hinges and drawer pulls are brass. The box measures approx. 9" x 14" x 9 3/4" tall. It is very heavy. It weighs 13 lbs before packing. The lid lifts up to reveal a large compartment lined in red satin brocade fabric with a mirror on the inside of the lid. Below this there are 3 drawers - one is a large compartment, one is a compartment with ring holders along each side and one is 3 smaller compartments. All of the drawers are also lined in red satin brocade fabric. I'm not sure how old this box is so I didn't call it vintage. It very well may be. There is a label on the bottom that reads Made in Macau.
CONDITION: There is some light corrosion on a couple of the brass hinges. It looks like there was a clear finish on the brass pieces that is worn off in spots. There is a bit of paint gone below one hinge - approx. 1/4" or less. One door doesn't close as tightly as the other one does, but works fine. The mirror is in excellent condition. The round object that is in the mirror in my picture is my camera poking through a hole in paper that I put in front of the mirror to photograph it without a lot of glare. All of the mother of pearl is intact. Please look at my pictures. They will tell you the condition better than I have in words.
